1394
This should be installed by default. I will try my old canon camcorder on my system, and let you know. Last time I tried (2.0 pre) it worked fine!
1394
Start the root-terminal and type in
modprobe raw1394
and you should be good to go
Doesn't work in the 2.6.22
Doesn't work in the 2.6.22 multimedia kernel it seems
64studio:/home/qharley# modprobe raw 1394
FATAL: Error inserting raw (/lib/modules/2.6.22-1-multimedia-amd64/kernel/drivers/char/raw.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
64studio:/home/qharley#
I'll open a ticket.
disk group
hum... In Ubuntu Studio, the best way is to add your user name to the user group "disk"
keep in mind that it may cause a security problem if you are using firewire for networking, but it is not very used.
Toine
modprobe
There should be no space in raw1394. Try
modprobe raw1394instead of
modprobe raw 1394Oops...
Yes, my typo...
The fact is that my video camera works on the 2.6.21 kernel, but not on 2.6.22
2.1 RC1 runs the 2.6.21 kernel, and all my hardware is very happy so far.
