Question about ATI and realtime kernelRight now, I'm using Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon 7.10 64-bit. I'm having major trouble getting the rt-kernel to work with my fglrx drivers for my ATI Radeon HD3850. So I've been thinking about make the switch to 64studio, but I don't want to do this if I'm just going to run into the same problems. I haven't really found any related forum posts on this, so I would like some advice. This card seems to run at a full-load without its drivers (it did the same under windows before I installed the drivers there too), so if this isn't possible, then I guess I'll have to find a way to work without the realtime kernel. So your help is greatly appreciated.

ATI driver and any kernel
Hi :)
I try to get an ASUS M2A-VM HDMI integrated ATI Radeon X1250-based graphics work.
X works, but there's no difference to the vesa driver, when using this xorg.conf:
64studio:/home/spinymouse# cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf
# /etc/X11/xorg.conf (xorg X Window System server configuration file)
#
# This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
# values from the debconf database.
#
# Edit this file with caution, and see the /etc/X11/xorg.conf manual page.
# (Type "man /etc/X11/xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
#
# This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
# if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
# package.
#
# If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
# again, run the following command:
# sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

There are 2 problems:
- The vertical refresh rate won't get higher than 59.8Hz. I've got the same trouble with a NVidia on another mobo. 3D has been fine with the NVidia for 64 Studio and it has been able to set the vertical refresh rate higher for Suse and the NVidia gfx card.
- I can't enable 3D. I see that there is trouble with the GLcore module.
What should be the next step to do? I will search Google for GLcore, but I'm afraid that I will need help.
Cheers,
Ralf
PS
I installed the proprietary ATI driver like this, if I can believe Yakuake's history:
64studio:/home/spinymouse# ./ati-driver-installer-8-5-x86.x86_64.run
I didn't run any configuration tools, but ATI Catalyst Control Center.
