saving audio settings

Every tine I boot 64studio I have to start alsaconf to get sound and I am unable to save this setting. alsactl store doesnt work.
Maybe its the 'Available commands:store card #' thats the problem?
lspci | grep audio
00:0b.0 Multimedia audio controller: VIA Technologies Inc. ICE1712 [Envy24] PCI Multi-Channel I/O Controller (rev 02)

I have tried

root@64studio> alsactl store 00:0b.0
alsactl: save_state:1268: Cannot find soundcard '00:0b.0'...
root@64studio> alsactl store ICE1712
alsactl: save_state:1268: Cannot find soundcard 'ICE1712'...

If you start up fresh, and open qjackctr, what do you see under Settings if you click on the ">" sign next to interface?
