Think of the stuff in "Backports" as the testing testing. Besides the development packages (which are fine) these are packages that have been backported, but do not work as well as they were supposed to, or are too buggy code wise to be included into the "64studio testing" repository.

Rest assured that Free is constantly tinkering with these, to see if he can make them work. The version that we'll include might not be 1.6 beta 1, but when it becomes usable, it should move to the 64studio "testing".

That said, if anything from backports works for you, great! Nothing prevents you from using it. Just know that if it is "reasonable stablity" (actually great stability at the moment) you are after, I'd go for the 64studio "testing" stuff.

I know Quentin, but i need 1.6 version. I find new info. Mixxx from backports broken when i play ogg files! When i play wav, mp3 work good. But i've 3/4 music in ogg files ;)
